Changes to My Study Programme

Hi, today I will talk to you about a series of changes that could be implemented in the career of Public Administration at the University of Chile, either in the curriculum or in other aspects such as infrastructure.

One of the most important changes I would make is to merge a series of subjects where you learn practically the same thing, which would mean considerably reducing the study time.

Another of the changes I would make in terms of curriculum would be to add subjects oriented to understand the functioning of municipalities in our country, because the current curriculum focuses too much on the central level of the State.

In terms of infrastructure and considering the return to classroom classes next year, I think a very necessary change is about the School's dining room, because it is very small. This generates that at lunch time it collapses of people and many have to have lunch in other places of the University. I think this could be solved by generating more than one lunch time window or simply creating another physical space.

Finally, in terms of teaching methods, I think it is necessary to implement more didactic methods, since many courses are extremely theoretical, often leading to monotony and demotivation. In addition to this, I believe that an approach to what a public administrator really does should be generated from the first year of the career, because I know many people who even in the third year of the career still do not know very well what a professional with this degree does.
